It has factories in both China and Taiwan, and it uses technology and tools built in the US. So now the Trump administration is trying to block it, so that US chip-making tools do not reach TSMC plants in China. And to do this, they have revoked TSMC license. It's the same old weapon of economic sanctions. Although it's proving to be a blunt tool. Take the example of Russia. Russia has more than 20,000 Western sanctions.
